ABOUT ME:

Hello, and welcome to Building Bravery! My name is Leslie Alexander, and I am a Certified Child Life Specialist with over 12 years of experience supporting children and families through life’s most challenging moments. My passion for this work is rooted in my own journey—I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of six, an experience that shaped my understanding of the emotional and psychological impact of medical diagnoses on children and their families.

Through Building Bravery, I aim to create a safe, compassionate space where families can find support, resources, and tools to navigate grief, adversity, and life altering circumstances. Whether helping a child understand their illness, guiding a family through the loss of a loved one, or providing coping strategies for medical procedures, my mission is to empower families with resilience and hope.

I hold a degree in Developmental Psychology from The College of New Jersey and have honed my expertise through roles in inpatient pediatric rehabilitation and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) @ Virtua Health. In my time spent in the hospital. I have extensive experience working across various healthcare settings, including general pediatrics, pediatric emergency departments, outpatient radiology, and adult intensive care units, providing emotional support and coping strategies to children and loved ones of adult patients in diverse and challenging situations.

When I’m not working as a Child Life Specialist, I love spending time with my husband, two children and pitbull Kona. I enjoy doing projects around my house and decorating for every season. I look forward to walking alongside you on this journey toward healing and bravery.
